By now you have heard or seen the recent rising star Jessie J right? Well did you ever notice her lip tattoos? I had the pleasure of testing them for you today, just in case your wondering what and how they work.

Here is a photo of the hot pink skull tattoos by Violent Lips. They work like the old school body tattoos, applied by dampening the back of the paper, then slidding the back off the tattoo, adhering them to your lips.

I went to the Fashion Arizona Meetup 4/19/11 at the Talking Stick Resorts 270 Degree’s 14th floor lounge. I was lucky enough to catch the promoter’s assistant try to apply these to one of the models. Unfortunately no one told her she had to peel off the back of the lips before trying to apply, because she decided they didn’t work, and gave up. She gave me the left over cuttings, and that is what I tried today for you.

I tried the smallest piece today because I wanted to see if the concept would really work, before covering my entire lip. It felt like i had a bandage on my lips for the entire 4-5 hours it lasted. But unfortunately when it began to wear off, my lips were stained with white where the color bleed. Looked like I ate a powder donut and forgot to wipe. The tightness you feel with the Violent Lip Tattoos on is a little weird, makes me want to scratch them off.

For the best and most comfortable feel, a plumper, fuller lip is required. I say this because the lip tattoo highlights every crevice in your lips. they will look like wrinkled grapes if you don’t have full lips (just my two cents).
